Detects SQL Server Instances and Monitors Your Network for Changes

Quest Discovery Wizard for SQL Server makes it simple to detect all the SQL Server instances in your organization and monitor your network for changes. It even helps you find SQL Server instances that native tools cannot detect.

With Discovery Wizard, you can:

  • Create an inventory of the databases on your network and the amount of data they contain
  • Select databases for consolidation
  • Review database history, including installation and creation dates
  • Find out which SQL Server versions and service packs are deployed
  • Learn server, instance, and operating system names
  • See who your end users are
  • Discovery — Detect all existing SQL Server instances in your organization and monitor your network for new instances. Reveal SQL Server instances that cannot be detected using native tools.
  • Inventory — Learn server, instance, and operating system names as well as which versions of SQL Server and service packs are deployed.
  • Consolidation — Improve the reliability of critical systems, cut costs by consolidating some servers and centralizing the management of others, and increase employee productivity.
  • History — Review database history, including when it was created and installed.
  • Detection Techniques — Improve SQL Server discovery with a multifaceted approach that includes domain and IP range discovery techniques.
  • Baselines — Gain a better understanding of your SQL Server environment by setting a baseline and using it as an indicator of future change when new servers or instances are added.
  • Query Packs — Define one or more custom queries to run against discovered instances and automatically store results with baselines.

Before installing Discovery Wizard, ensure your system meets the following minimum hardware and software requirements:
